Life Skills Training
LST's primary objective is to enhance the development of basic life skills, personal competence, and skills related to resistance to social influences that promote substance use.
Universal prevention measures address an entire population (local, community, school, or neighborhood) with messages and programs aimed at preventing or delaying negative behaviors leading to the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The mission of universal prevention is to deter the onset of negative actions and behaviors for the physical, intellectual, social and emotional areas, including onset of substance abuse by providing all individuals with the information and skills necessary to prevent the problem. The entire population is considered at risk and able to benefit from prevention programs.
